Your Clear Skin Starts Here

Clear Skin and real talk. Here’s the thing about clear skin: it’s a lot about your digestion 💩 and hormones and very little to do with products. THat’s not to say products are useless (nor is it to say that they can’t cause breakouts), but rather, it’s more about what’s going on inside than what you’re doing on the outside.

Changes in your skin can happen for many reasons. I notice big changes when I’m travelling (and find I have a change in my digestion) as well as when I am in pre-moon in my cycle (hormone fluctuation).

It’s well documented that healthy digestion leads to clearer skin. So what is healthy digestion? Put basically, we should be eliminating 1-2X per day and eliminating completely.

Pay attention to you’re digestion when your skin is acting up, and then use natural methods to help correct it. Here are my go-to’s for clearing out my digestive tract & clearing my skin:

💧 Water – drink a lot of it. This is the most common reason why were constipated. I try to get 2 – 3 L a day.

🌱 Plant fibre & herbs – pictured here is a very cleansing blend of organic flaxseed, psyllium husk, dandelion root powder, burdock root powder & fenugreek seed powder. This combination helps with balancing hormones and with your digestion.

🚽Magnesium – in the form of magnesium citrate or magnesium oxide – it can help relax your muscles & increase your body’s ability to eliminate and detoxify. This is one of my favourite supplements to take with me travelling. I take about 500 mg of magnesium oxide before bed (*check with your own doctor before supplementing, as I am just giving my experience and practice)

🍌Prebiotics are a form of dietary fibre that act as a “fertilizer” for the good gut bacteria (they’re effectively foods for the probiotics in your gut). Dandelion greens and burdock root in my mix above are prebiotics & also hormone balancing herbs.

🌱 Probiotics are live bacteria that can be found in fermented foods like coconut yoghurt, sauerkraut and kombucha. Add some of these foods & herbs to your daily diet

This protocol, plus good sleep should have your skin clearing up beautifully (provided you’re already cutting sugar, dairy, gluten & soy).
